Alcoa Elementary School strives to maintain a community atmosphere with parents, students, faculty. AES supports an ever growing population of over 477 students in grades pre-k through the 2nd grade. Led by principal Monique Maples, and assistant principal Dr. Sara Williams, the 50+ members of the faculty and staff work together closely as a unit. Presently the school is made up of eight pods which house three to four classrooms. The center of the building houses a large library filled with many books and audio visual materials. Close by is a 'theater in the round' which holds many programs and special events. The students of Alcoa Elementary enjoy Art,  Gym, Library, Music, Guidance, and Technology on a 7-day rotation.  The school has three computer labs where students have access multiple times each week.   Throughout the school year, Alcoa hosts several activities which bring friends and family to our school setting.  A few of these are Lunch with a Loved One--a picnic lunch on our front lawn, Thanksgiving Dinner with families, a Fall Carnival, and book fairs as well as multiple PTO sponsored events. AES offers an after school program called STARS that works with parents for their individual childcare needs. AES is proud to announce that our district has adopted a 3 year technology 1:1 plan. Deployment begins this year! AES has chosen 5 exemplar teachers to train and prepare to be our first 1:1 classrooms. Shortly after fall break the exemplar teachers will receive a class set of Chromebooks and a charging cart. Teachers will be using Google Classroom as the chosen learning management system (LMS) and Google Apps for Education products for student use.
